Have you been trying to get the perfect morning routine that fits you? Well in today’s post, I am here to share with you 14 tips on how you can create a ” Successful Morning Routine!”
9 Morning Routine Ideas to Help You Create A Successful Morning Routine
Welcome to your go-to guide for crafting the ultimate morning routine tailored just for you! No need to set your alarm for 4:00 am if it doesn’t suit your style!
The key is finding your sweet spot, a routine you can stick with every day. Since we all lead unique lives, grab a pen and paper, jot down the tips in this post, and customize your morning schedule to match your lifestyle!
No.1 - Waking Up Early
I know, you’ve probably heard this a thousand times, and possibly even tried it. Then it’s probably not what you want to hear, it just sounds far to simple.. right? Well let me tell you, waking up early enough, doesn’t have to mean waking up at the crack of dawn!
You simply just need to wake up , with enough time spare to have a good morning routine, so you’re not rushing around panicking trying to get ready before you have to leave. DO NOT HIT THAT SNOOZE BUTTON! Just get up on the first alarm, trust me you’ll feel much better for it.
Find out how long it would take you to do the rest of the steps we are going to talk about later, and schedule an appropriate time for you which would leave you with enough time to get ready in the morning.
I personally like to wake up at 6:00am, do my morning routine, then wake my daughter up, get her ready, then we leave the house at 8am ready for school and work. This could be very different for you, you could be on a later shift, have university, work from home. There are so many different lifestyles we all lead, which is why it’s so important to make sure the time you need to wake up, is something that fits well into your normal routine, and leaved you with enough time to do the rest of the steps.
I would advise giving yourself a good hour, before you have to leave, to have a nice, slow morning ready for a productive day.
No.2 - Waking Your Body Up
This is probably the most important step, before you do anything else, is waking up your body and mind ready for the day.
One thing I highly recommend you not to do, is to stay in bed scrolling on your phone and looking on social media, or replying to messages. Screentime is no way to start your day. This can actually impact your day massively, cause stress and anxiety. Which is a complete NO GO!
We want to start our day feeling refreshed, motivated and full of gratitude! Get out of bed, leave your phone on the side, and have a real good stretch and MAKE YOUR BED.
Making your bed is so important, it just makes you feel so put together, like you’re ready to start your day. Then, go and wash your face, put the kettle on and get ready for step No.3.
No.3 - Caffeine, Journaling & Meditation
This section is optional, as caffeine and meditation may not be for everyone. However if these options are not your “Cup of Tea” (LOL) I still highly recommend you still do try and journal every single day.
You can also alternate step No.3 and No.4 if you wish, so you can do your morning movement before or after your journaling and caffeine.
Whilst your kettle is boiling, or you’re waiting for your coffee to brew. I recommend taking 5 minutes to journal in the morning before you do anything else. I have two journals, one is a gratitude journal, the other is my daily planner for the day. I recommend both of these, there’s nothing better then starting of your day, writing down everything you’re grateful for and what you’d like t achieve by the end of the day. As for the daily planner, this is essential to write out everything you have planned for the day, you can use this for appointments, your schedule, tasks and jobs you’d like to complete for the day.
I will link them both here –
Let’s briefly talk about meditation, this is some I need to work on as in all honestly I can’t get into it, but it is something I would like to improve on and try to fit into my weekly routine. If you have any meditation tips, please share them with me! If Meditating is something you would like to start, I would watch a few YouTube tutorials on how to get started.
Once you’ve done your journaling and planning ready for the day, grab your brew and let’s go to step No.4
No.4 - Morning Movement
Don’t be alarmed, I’m am not suggesting to do a full-blown morning work out before you start your day, but just some form of morning movement! This can be a quick ten minute walk, a morning stretch, a Pilates class you like!
Morning Movement is an amazing way to start your day, it can help:
- Boosts metabolism
- Increases energy levels
- Improves focus and mental clarity
- Enhances mood
- Better sleep quality
- Reduces stress
There are so many more benefits, my favourite is watching the sun-rise whilst doing a good morning stretch, it helps me feel so productive for the rest of my day.
No.5 - Skin-Care & Self-Care
Now on to the fun stuff, hopefully you have your coffee ready or a nice ice cold lemon water! Now it’s time to start getting ready for the day. This is my favourite part, skin-care!
Firstly, we want to drain the morning puffiness away! The perfect way to do this is using a Gua Sha tool! I always make sure I have enough time to use my Gua Sha every morning, or you can even do some face yoga! We want to have our face and neck feeling sculpted and fresh!
I will list all products I recommend at the end of part No.5
Next, let’s talk about Skin-Care! Which is the most important part of getting ready, we want that glowing, hydrated skin!
It doesn’t have to be a 20+ item Skin-Care routine, or be really expensive! Keep it quick, and simple. Leave the in depth skin-care for your evening routine.
You just need a good toner, hyaluronic acid, caffeine for your under-eyes, a light moisturizer and lastly sun-screen!
Of course you can use whatever you like, but for me I think it’s best to keep it light and simple!
Here are my fav products for the morning!
No.6 - Make-Up & Hair
For the “Every-Day” Make-up Look, I think keeping it very minimal and basic works best. I even find doing stuff like getting my brows done, fake tanning etc helps just give the “Every-Day” Make-Up more glam, but still keeping it natural.
Basically, I want to look put together, with fast, efficient and natural make-up. This could be completely different for you, but I think prep is key! I.e. fake tanning, eyebrows etc.
What about hair? This is down to your preference, for me I am completely obsessed with heatless curls, and slick back ponytails! Something that’s quick and glam!
I prefer not spending too much time on my hair and make-up just for work, or everyday life. Just something simple, but still makes me feel good!
No.7 - Breakfast & Food Prep
Okay, so not everyone likes or feels hungry enough to have breakfast in the morning, which is absolutely fine. However I find that prepping a delicious breakfast ready for the morning, makes me want to eat it! If you do your morning movement, I do recommend having some form of food or nutrients to se you up for the day.
Here are some ideas I love:
- Overnight Oats (my personal fav!)
- Healthier Banana Bread
- Porridge
- Greek Yoghurt, Fruit & Honey
- Smoothie/Smoothie Bowl
- Protein Smoothie
- Homemade Granola Bars
These are so simple, quick and delicious, even if you just have some fruit to start your day.
Food Prep – As well as eating your breakfast, I recommend using this time to also prepare your lunch, or breakfast on the go, if you haven’t done this the night before. Usually I’ll do a meal prep Sunday, and have my lunches for the week all packed and ready to go. Which would really help you out having your meals planned, prepped and ready to go for the week. Then in the morning you simply just grab & go!
No.8 - Getting Dressed
After breakfast, I brush my teeth before changing, only because I do not trust I won’t spill toothpaste all over me! Of course, you can do this however you usually do.
When it comes to getting changed, a huge tip is to pick out and get your clothes ready the night before. This saves SO MUCH time in the morning. You want your morning to run as smoothly and as less stressful as possible.
I’m not sure about you, but finding an outfit is so stressful for me! Since making this small change to my morning routine saves me so much time and less stress, I know I will look good!
The idea is, that we want your morning to be slow, calm and productive, so making small changes like this will help you.
No.9 - Getting Ready To Leave
By now we’re getting ready to start our day, whether that’s going to work, meeting friends, or working from home. We are coming to the end of our morning routine.
It’s time to pack our things ready for the day, put our shoes on and get ready to start our day. Whether you are walking or driving to where you need to be, I recommend listening to a motivational podcast or audiobook for your journey. Something that is going to help you feel positive and motivated for the day.
I love listening to a good hot girl walk podcast to start my day right, some of my favourites are:
- The Wellness Cafe
- Hot Girl Enegery Podcast
- A Better You
- Busy Yet Pretty
These are all on Spotify if you want to give them a try!
It’s time for you to start your day.
