Summer is just around the corner, finally! It’s time to discuss my “In’s & Out’s For Summer 2024!” These are my complete non-negotiables when it comes to your self-improvement goals.
Introduction
With summer peeking over the horizon, it’s prime time to get ready for those dreams you’re chasing and celebrate all the wins you’ve scored. Let’s take a breather every quarter to check in on our progress, pat ourselves on the back for how far we’ve come, and set the stage for the next chapter of our journey. Here’s to quarterly reflections, goal refreshes, and endless possibilities! 💖☀️
This is the perfect opportunity to go through my absolute non-negotiables for summer 24.
In this post, we will be new habits for self-improvement and current habits that need to bugger off!
Reflection
Before setting new goals, you need to reflect on the past goals you have set yourself.
Let’s go back to New Year’s, did you set yourself a New Year’s resolution? Did you stick to it?
Have you had any habits you wanted to change for 2024? Did you succeed?
If not that is okay!
This is why reflecting on your goals every few months is so important.
You can reflect, change and improve, ready for the next quarter!
Shall we begin?
In's for Summer
Now that you’ve had a chance to reflect on your goals and habits for 2024, it’s time to gear up for summer! It’s natural for our summer aspirations to differ a bit from our year-round goals.
Personally, I’m all about soaking up the sunshine, connecting with friends, and taking a breather from work stress. But don’t worry, I’m still committed to personal growth and making progress on my annual goals. How about you? What’s on your Summer agenda?
Let’s focus on “The In’s For Summer 2024.”
In's - Exercise and Fitness
This year’s exercise for me has looked entirely different compared to 2023.
I used to focus more on weight training, growing my glutes, and overall a more toned physique. However, I realised I didn’t stick to this due to the fact it wasn’t something I really enjoyed, I was mainly doing it because that was the current trend.
While setting my fitness goals for 2024, I realised I really wanted to improve my overall health, stamina and mental health. I suffer from asthma and have done so since I was born, so my main goal this year has been to be able to run a 10k without stopping to take a breather.
I also wanted to focus on gratitude and my body strength, after writing down what I wanted to achieve fitness-wise, that when I came up with the exercises I wanted to do to reach those goals.
- Running
- Spin Classes
- Pilate Classes
- Walking ( Far )
- Flexibility Yoga
- Yoga
- Body Burn Classes
These are my absolute in’s for the rest of 2024!
I can’t wait for summer to be able to do these outside on the beach too!
In's-Self Improvement & Focus
Although this whole post is about self-improvement & focus, I’m itching to talk a bit more about well-being. It’s like the cherry on top of our self-care sundae, am I right?
In addition to focusing on well-being, I’d like to touch on the importance of gratitude practices, journaling, and finding moments of peacefulness in our daily lives. These practices not only promote mindfulness and self-awareness but also cultivate a sense of inner peace and contentment.
So let’s take a moment to explore some rituals into our routines that can enhance our overall well-being and bring more joy and fulfilment into our lives.
- Gratitude practices: Start each day by reflecting on three things you’re grateful for, fostering a positive mindset and appreciation for the present moment.
- Journaling: Dedicate time each day to jot down your thoughts, feelings, and aspirations, promoting self-reflection and emotional clarity.
- Mindfulness meditation: Set aside a few minutes daily to practice mindfulness meditation, cultivating a sense of calm, focus, and presence.
- Deep breathing exercises: Incorporate deep breathing exercises throughout your day to reduce stress, increase oxygen flow to your brain, and promote relaxation.
- Physical activity: Engage in regular physical activity that you enjoy, whether it’s yoga, walking, dancing, or strength training, to boost your mood and energy levels.
- Healthy nutrition: Prioritize nourishing your body with whole, nutritious foods that fuel your energy and support your overall well-being.
- Quality sleep: Establish a consistent sleep schedule and create a relaxing bedtime routine to ensure you get enough restorative sleep each night.
There are some things you can do just from these practises, there are also several items I highly recommend that will help on your self-improvement journey.
In's - Cooking and Eating Habits
Let’s talk about fueling our bodies with the good stuff! Cooking and eating habits play a crucial role in our overall well-being, and it’s time to give them the attention they deserve.
First up, let’s embrace the power of whole foods. Say goodbye to processed junk and hello to fresh, nutrient-packed ingredients straight from Mother Nature’s pantry. Making meals from scratch not only allows us to control what goes into our bodies but also gives us a deeper appreciation for the food we eat.
Take it from me – there’s something incredibly satisfying about kneading dough for homemade bread or whipping up a batch of granola bars from scratch. In fact, whipping up a week’s supply of granola bars and banana bread on a cozy Sunday morning has become my favorite ritual. It’s not just about nourishing my body; it’s about nourishing my soul.
Speaking of soul-nourishing, let’s talk sugar. Artificial sweeteners may give us a quick fix, but they do little to support our long-term health and well-being. Instead, let’s opt for naturally sweet treats and savor them mindfully, knowing they’re fueling us with goodness from the inside out.
And when it comes to dining out, let’s make it a special occasion. Limiting restaurant meals and takeaways to just 1-2 times a month not only saves money but also encourages us to get creative in the kitchen and savour homemade meals with loved ones.
So, here’s to embracing the joy of cooking, nourishing our bodies with wholesome foods, and savouring every bite with gratitude. Cheers to a healthier, happier you! 🍽️✨
In's Relationships & Friendships
Let’s make 2024 the year of meaningful connections and unforgettable memories! We all live such busy lives, that it’s easy to let precious moments slip away. But this summer, let’s hit pause on the chaos and focus on what truly matters – our loved ones.
There’s something magical about summer that beckons us outdoors, and it’s the perfect opportunity to strengthen bonds with family, partners, and friends. Whether it’s planning a cozy camping trip under the stars, embarking on a family vacation to a picturesque destination, or simply enjoying a leisurely picnic in the park, let’s make time to reconnect and create cherished memories together.
And let’s not forget about our girlfriends! Summer is the ideal time to indulge in those adorable girly dates we’ve been dreaming of – think brunches, beach days, and spontaneous road trips with the girls. Because let’s face it, life is better when shared with the ones who lift us up and make us laugh.
So, let’s swap the busy schedules for quality time, the to-do lists for laughter-filled adventures, and the stress for sunshine-filled memories. Here’s to prioritizing family, relationships, and friendships, and basking in the warmth of summer’s embrace! ☀️💕

It’s time to say goodbye to your bad habits.
These habits or lifestyle choices will look different for everyone, I’m going to list some of my bad habits to give you some inspiration. I absolutely refuse to bring these into my summer!
- Store-Bought Coffees ( most days )
- Eating Out too Often
- Only 1-2 Take-Aways Per Month
- Stop Dressing Lazy ( Every Day )
- Stressing Too Much About Things I Can’t Change
- Spending Money on Unnecessary Things
- Staying Inside Too Much
- Wearing Mascara ( Everyday )
- Changing Oat Milk to Coconut Milk
- Eat Less Refined Sugar
You’ll notice that I have mostly reduced how often I do most of these things, rather than taking them out altogether. This is because it’s more realistic, and a lot of these things I actually enjoy, i just need to cut down on how much I do these things.
